My Daddy drank coffee in an old tin cup,

He worked real hard just to make a few bucks.

Momma cleaned house and cooked every day, As we sat down to eat, we’d bowed our heads to pray.

Those were the times that I knew were good, Sitting outside under the old redwood.

Things were simple and days were long,

But as we get old we sing a different song.

You remember the good and try to forget the bad,That’s why getting old makes you feel so sad.

Some things went wrong and some went right,There’s a lot of moments I’d like to rewrite. I’ll just keep the good times dear to my heart, I guess when it’s al said I wasn’t that smart.

Because who you are and your reaching for the clouds, Being my son —-you’ve made me so proud. Be who you are and not as I was, Your a great dad just because.

Make memories each and every day, These words are real and not just a cliche.

Your two beautiful children are going to make us so proud, Even if I am not here, I’ll be looking down from the clouds.

I love you all, today and forever.

Dei-Gratia
